Abstract

Social intelligence is one of the important aspects that need to be developed early on. With good social intelligence, students will be able to adapt to new social environments and will be good at respecting others. The study aims to describe the value of social intelligence in the textbooks of elementary school students. The books were published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The data found is analyzed with content analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that textbooks for elementary school students contain many social intelligence values. The value of social intelligence was found in the text of stories and exercises conveyed in books. Researchers found values of caring, basic empathy, alignment, and social cognition. The implication of this research is that other textbooks also introduce the values of social intelligence as an effort to increase students' social sensitivity and empathy early.
