Abstract

In an era of globalization characterized by the intensification of cultural contacts and increasing identity-based tensions, the significance of cultural heritage and historical awareness take center stage. This paper explores how cultural heritage-both tangible and intangible-serves as a tool to foster an inclusive global perspective through education, public memory, and cross-cultural dialogue. Drawing on interdisciplinary scholarship and recent empirical studies from Indonesia and other regions, this article critically analyses the relationship between cultural heritage and the development of historical consciousness, particularly in educational and socio-political contexts. The paper also examines the challenges posed by politicization, digital disruption, and cultural homogenization, while proposing transformative strategies for inclusive heritage engagement in the 21st century. By advancing an integrative approach, the study offers theoretical and practical insights to educators, policymakers, and cultural institutions aiming to promote awareness of history and global citizenship.
