Abstract

The song "Imagine," released by John Lennon in 1971, is one of the most famous and significant songs in contemporary music history. This song is considered a symbol of hope, peace, and unity. Using the literature review method, this research analyzes the language style and meaning of the word "Dream." The messages in this song are easily understood by various people due to its simple and open language style. By using repetition and anaphora, Lennon creates a calming effect that encourages listeners to contemplate a world without borders, conflict, and materialism. His lyrics challenge listeners to rethink the social constructs that cause inequality and conflict. Additionally, this analysis examines the sociopolitical context of the early 1970s, such as the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War. This provides important background for the message. Studies show that "Imagine" is not just a musical work it is a social critique and a utopian vision for a better future. The message of peace and hope in this song has inspired generation after generation.
