Abstract

This study aims to understand the dynamics of emotional development and the self-adjustment process in stroke patients. Stroke often causes drastic physical and psychological changes in individuals' lives, affecting their emotional state and ability to adapt. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, this research involved five stroke patients in Kupang City. The results showed that patients experienced emotional stages that included shock, frustration, and acceptance. The adjustment process is influenced by stroke severity, social support, and individual personality. Strong family support accelerated the patient's emotional and physical recovery process. This study recommends a community-based rehabilitation program that involves families to improve the quality of life of stroke patients.
