Abstract

The acts of violation by students are more related to the rules and regulations in Islamic boarding schools, such as not attending class hours, cases of smoking, leaving the boarding school without permission, Ghasab (borrowing without permission) and stealing, only a small part of which leads to violations of the law. This research discusses cases of smoking among students at one of the boarding school-based junior high schools in Karanganyar. The methodology used is qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. Data collection through observation of daily behavior (participant observation), documentation and interviews. The results of the research show that there are no standard regulations regarding punishment in boarding school-based junior high schools in Karanganyar, making the implementation of baldness punishment important and still needs to be implemented. The effectiveness of punishment is significant in supporting the enforcement of student discipline. The psychological impact of this punishment was not found to be a serious problem for the students. On the other hand, the imposition of punishment actually shows a positive side, namely building self-awareness and a sense of responsibility for the consequences of the violations that have been committed.
