Acculturation Of Isalam And Javanese Culture In Kidung Rumeksa Ing Wengi Composed By Sunan Kali Jaga

Abstract

Acculturation is a cultural change that begins with the joining of two or more independent cultures and then contacts with other cultures as a result of participating in the acculturation process that is being carried out by the culture or ethnic group. Like Kidung Rumeksa ing Wengi which is a Javanese song created by Sunan Kalijaga which is used as a medium for Islamic da'wah in Java. Sunan Kalijaga included Islamic values ​​in the Song Rumeksa ing Wengi. The purpose of this study is to describe the acculturation of Islam and Javanese culture by Sunan Kalijaga in preaching to spread Islam in Java. With a song or song in Kidung Rumeksa ing Wengi, Sunan Kalijaga teaches the stages of Islamic education to the Javanese community. Data collection in this study was carried out by the documentation method. The data collected was analyzed by content analysis. The results of this study indicate that Sunan Kalijaga tried to incorporate Islamic teachings related to aqidah, worship, and morals by using local Javanese terms that have been understood by the community. This is done as a cultural strategy step. Sunan Kalijaga tried to change the culture and structure of society through a soft cultural approach through kidung which had become a habit and favorite of the people at that time. The structure of the content of the Song of Rumeksa ing Wengi starts from the importance of having a straight faith, true worship, and noble character. These three things become the main core of Islamic Education.
